Kevin Durant Being Traded By The Brooklyn Nets

If you’re into professional basketball, this probably isn’t the first time you’ve heard about the trade deal for Kevin Durant. These talks began earlier in the year, July 30 to be exact, with a few different teams citing their interest in the highly talented star. Kevin actually stated that he wanted to be traded, a request which he has made on at least two separate occasions now.

The exact reason for this trade is relatively unknown, but Durant has voiced his concerns surrounding the head coach Steve Nash. When confronting Joseph C. Tsai, the owner of The Brooklyn Nets, it’s believed that an ultimatum was given. Kevin either wanted Nash to be fired or for him to be traded to another team. 

It's becoming apparent that Kevin also felt fed up with the situation at The Nets. The team was centred around him and Kyrie Irving, who also reportedly wants to leave (However, this is little more than rumours and speculation currently). It's clear Durant doesn't see much of a revival with Brooklyn, especially considering their poor performance throughout last season. 

So, what is the most likely scenario for Kevin Durant? Honestly, nobody can be sure right now. The Nets are demanding a very lucrative trade offer, as they should. However, some proposals have almost been shut down immediately. For example, Brooklyn made an offer to the Boston Celtics, trying to take both Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum off their hands. 

While the Boston Celtics may be leading the charge to sign Durant currently, this is certainly not a one-horse race. Teams such as Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, and the Pheonix Suns are reportedly also highly interested. Recently, there have been talks that the Philadelphia 76ers may be ramping up their bid for the superstar too. 

Of course, Kevin Durant also has the option to stay with The Nets, if a common ground can be found with the owner. However, at the moment, no progress has been made on either front, and the move has remained pretty stationery since the news of a potential trade broke. 

It’s obvious why this story has created such a buzz in the world of the NBA. Kevin Durant is a high-profile star that is considered as one of the greats in the sport. He is also one of the highest-paid NBA players of all time.  

Over the course of his 14-year career, which started in the 2007-2008 season, he has picked up an incredible portfolio of achievements. This includes rookie of the year in his first season, MVP of the NBA finals, and most valuable player of the entire season in 2014. 

While many people have been trying to identify the best fit for Kevin Durant, it’s safe to say that he will have an impact on any team in the coming seasons. For now, the whole situation is in the hands of other teams and whether or not they can provide a tempting enough offer to compensate The Brooklyn Nets.
