The LA Lakers are among the most legendary NBA teams in the competition's history. Throughout the years, they've blessed us with countless great games; the team won a total of 17 Championships, 33 Division titles, as well as 19 Conference titles.
There’s no denying that their history is definitely a work of art, which is why the team has such a huge following. With that being said, we wanted to reminisce on the most outstanding players that this team ever had. Keep in mind that these are personal picks, and you are free to create a list of your own.
We are going to start things off with the late Kobe Bryant, who passed away in a helicopter crash with his daughter in 2020. Kobe spent his entire career playing for the Lakers, having joined them in 1996. The list of achievements by this man is just too long, which is a testament to his greatness.
After suffering a lot of injuries, his final season, 2015/2016, started with a calf injury and missed the last two weeks of exhibition games. However, he provided us with a decent farewell as he scored 60 points on his last NBA game against Utah.
Even though the Lakers were already a well-established team by the time Magic Johnson arrived, he managed to turn the team into what his name represents – magic. The reason why Magic Johnson was such a good part of the team is that he made everyone around him feel like they was the best player in the NBA.
Magic Johnson played for the Lakers from 1979-1991, then came back in 1996 for an additional season.
Our second-to-last pick is a rare basketball player with multiple "shattered boards" on his resume. Shaquille O'Neal is currently enjoying retirement as a reporter and commentator, but he was one of the fiercest NBA players back in the day.
O’Neal joined the Lakers back in 1996 and played there until 2004. He retired in 2011 after spending his last season with the Boston Celtics.
Wilton Norman Chamberlain, simply known as Wilt Chamberlain, spent a total of 5 years playing for the Lakers (1968 to 1973). Even though he did not have instant success with the Lakers, he managed to win his first championship in 1971. He also set a few records during that time, and thanks to those achievements, he managed to solidify himself as one of the greatest players to wear the Lakers jersey in history.
Finally, who can forget about the legendary Kareem Abdul – Jabbar, the greatest scorer in NBA’s history? The one thing that made him so unique is his playing style, which embodied skill and technique over everything.
Not only did he play basketball, but he was a true student of the game. That is what separated him from the pack and made him the GOAT in many people’s eyes. Kareem Abdul – Jabbar joined the Lakers in 1975 and played there until 1989.
