Is Salah Worth It For Liverpool’s Success? - partycasino

Mohamed Salah is in excellent form once again for Liverpool. He's scored twenty-three goals and made nine assists from twenty-six appearances in all competitions. So, naturally, he will get the headlines for his continued achievements on the pitch and in front of the goal. But, his contract situation remains the big talking point.

There is no denying that Salah has fast become one of Liverpool's all-time greats and one of the Premier League's as well. You can't argue against his record of one hundred and forty-eight goals and fifty-six assists from two hundred and twenty-nine outings. And, let’s not forget, the Egyptian’s goal contributions have seen Liverpool win their maiden Premier League title and the Champions League.

But, when this current campaign is over, Salah will have twelve months remaining on his contract. And this is a saga that has been going on for a while, and there appears to be no sign of a deal being agreed. Understandably, as one of the best players in the world, Salah feels he is deserving of a bumper contract to reflect this. But, in the same breath, it could mean Liverpool’s current pay structure will be broken. So, is Salah worth it?

One of the first drawbacks is that Salah is twenty-nine and in his peak years. But, it also means that his value will naturally depreciate, and so could his powers. They could give him a bumper new deal that spans three years, but there could be a decline in him as a player, and his value, during this period.

But, on the other hand, Salah is showing no signs of slowing down. At twenty-nine, he’s still hitting the heights where goal contributions are concerned. He’s undoubtedly one of the best players in the world, and Liverpool have the option to secure him for a bit longer. Of course, many will say they’d be mad to let him leave. Which, if he’s in the final twelve months of his contract, could mean selling him for less than he’s worth. Or, he could even wait it out and leave for free in 2023.

Another angle to consider is the squad at Liverpool. Some may feel keeping Salah at all costs is imperative, while others may be disappointed he’s been given a significant pay hike, and they haven’t. However, squad harmony has always been crucial to Jurgen Klopp, who is unlikely to waiver on it, even if it is to placate Salah.

The perfect resolution would be to renew Salah’s contract and reward him appropriately, but not to get tied into a long term deal. In this time, Liverpool should be doing all they can to find Salah’s successor. They’ve brought in Luis Diaz, who can rival Sadio Mane on the left, so now the pressure will be on for the club’s recruitment team to work out who will be good enough to fill the void left when Salah eventually departs.
